De Pere Real Estate

Nestled on the Fox River and rich in history and education opportunities, De Pere is one of the four communities that comprises the Green Bay Metropolitan Statistical Area, with a population of about 25,000.

History

De Pere features several areas on the National Register of Historic Places, including North Broadway, Randall and Superior-Michigan historic districts. With an ongoing Historic Neighborhood Preservation Plan, Downtown De Pere maintains its historical roots.

Polo Resto once served St. Norbert College when polo was the sport that brought fans to town in droves. When football replaced this sport in popularity, this historic landmark was permanently closed. However, the development was saved from destruction when it was moved to 201 Williams Street in 2004.

Polo Resto is just one of the many beautifully maintained historic structures in Downtown De Pere.

Transportation

Unique to Downtown De Pere, the area is navigable by boat and canoe traffic via boat launches along the Fox River.
De Pere is home of the only fully restored, hand operated lock system in the nation.
This preserved recreational and historic boating activity is accessible through the 17 locks operated by Fox Locks and covers 39 miles of the Fox River from the Menasha Lock to the De Pere Lock located near the historic landmark, the Locktender’s House.
De Pere Riverwalk connects Voyageur Park, the Fox River Trail, and downtown De Pere to the Locktender’s Island.
The De Pere Lock and Fox River can be seen on the Riverwalk.

A variety of amenities and features are concentrated in the downtown area of De Pere, making this the most walkable portion of the community. However, the majority of real estate covers driveable suburbia, which sets the De Pere community at a 30 Walk Score ranking/43 Bike Score
